For all of the entrepreneurial audience I have, you might wonder how can my self-development help grow my brand/social media? What does that have to do with anything? Well, here is my answer to you-EVERYTHING! Your self-development has everything to do with growing your brand. These three components are very beneficial to both your personal and brand development. Here are the 3 essential tips.
- Learning Consistency
- Creating Discipline
- Being Personable
LEARNING CONSISTENCY
Consistency is one of the secrets to accomplishing your goals. It goes hand and hand with its’s best friend, discipline. Consistency is what helps you become successful. Being consistent requires devoting yourself to your goals and remaining focused on the things and activities to help you achieve them. Consistency requires a long-term commitment and genuine effort in repeating actions until you achieve your goals.
Being consistent is essential for achieving success in whatever we want to do in life. So, having a clear goal in mind is the first thing you can do to maintain consistency. Unfortunately, it isn’t easy to stay motivated if you don’t have a clear plan. If you’re having trouble setting goals in life, perhaps you can draw inspiration from other people’s experiences and stories.
After you’ve established your goals and plans, the difficult part begins: doing things repeatedly and consistently over time. Many people will start with the goal-setting and plan-making steps, but once they start doing something, they will abandon it halfway through, if not sooner. It is critical to prepare ourselves for developmental consistency in what we do. It is vital to remember that long-term goals entail making incremental progress over time rather than accomplishing your dreams right away. To help us maintain a steady focus, we should direct our energy and minds to the following things: focus on what is truly important, do things one at a time, and concentrate on the process and execution of the activity.
LEARNING DISCIPLINE
Why does discipline matter? There are many reasons why learning how to be disciplined matters, the first being that it creates good habits. New habits can still be challenging to establish, so discipline is essential. When you consistently commit to your new routine, it becomes easier and more natural. As a result, you’ll be able to break bad habits.
Procrastination is everyone’s worst enemy! We’ve all struggled with procrastination or waiting for the perfect moment when we feel ready. When you’re disciplined and have established good habits, your ability to complete tasks depends on how you feel. Discipline functions somewhat similarly to autopilot. You do not have to wait for the right emotion or motivation.
Achieving your goals is more complicated than everyone, and social media makes it seem. Everyone has goals, but what are some examples of goals? Goals can also include learning a new language, improving at a hobby, or achieving an exercise goal. To get what you want, you must be disciplined. It will not occur overnight. Discipline ensures that you form new habits, stop procrastinating, and manage your time effectively. You will see significant improvement and achieve success with time and discipline.
LEARNING HOW TO BE PERSONABLE
What does it mean to be personable? My definition of a personable person is Someone personable is likable and enjoyable to be around. Being personable can mean various things, including being friendly, open, warm, and generous. So now that we know what that means, why is it important? I have learned that when you’re happy, it makes others happy, and they enjoy being around you. People don’t remember what you did for them, they remember how YOU made them feel.
Practice being friendly and engaging with others
This includes the following:
- Asking friendly questions like:
“How have you been since we last saw each other?” or “Nice to see you!”
2. Taking the initiative to approach people or staying in touch with someone you like
Expressing gratitude with phrases like:
“You did a great presentation” or “I like your jacket.”
These types of actions come naturally to extroverts, but we introverts can learn them if we pay close attention.
When interacting with others, practice taking small steps that are outside of your normal behavior. It may feel awkward at first before you get used to it, and that’s fine.
You have to be open to empathy
Being understanding of others is part of being personable and likable. Humans appreciate it when others are considerate of their predicament. Here’s a quick exercise to help you develop empathy:
Consider a person you know or someone you’re currently conversing with. Take note of their general demeanor, mood, and tone. Consider how they might be feeling right now. Then consider what might be causing this sensation. This exercise trains you to be more sensitive to the emotions of others.
Listen and Ask Questions
People who are approachable are usually good listeners. Active listening should be practiced. When you actively listen, you listen to hear what the other person is saying rather than to add your own comment.
If you find yourself thinking about your next sentence while someone is speaking, redirect your attention to what they are saying. Concentrate on the message and think of follow-up questions.
To listen, you must first get people to talk. Open-ended questions are typical of a good conversationalist. Instead of asking, “Did you enjoy your trip to Europe?” (a yes or no question), ask, “So, what were your impressions of Europe?” This is an open question with a lot of options for the person’s response. Not every question has to be open-ended, but you can try to ask more of these if you notice that your conversations are dying out.
In order to show that you’re interested in what they’re saying, ask clarifying questions. This makes talking to you more rewarding.
